This article came as a surprise. The author saw Call me Salma at the Vancouver Queer Film Festival last August and decided to write a piece on it in the VERS Magazine. Thanks Gunter Seifert!

Petite confusion sur le mensonge de Salma par rapport à son voyage en Inde… mais on apprécie quand même!!
We contributed to the writing of this article by answering a few questions asked by the journalist Thithi Farhana. We have been very careful with the information we gave her and the way we wrote it, but we unfortunately find ourselves misquoted in the article.
Very disappointing… her lack of previous knowledge on the subject probably led her to make conclusions based on her preconceived notions of what a Hijra is. The very first word of the article, hermaphrodites, leads to a completely wrong comprehension of Hijras. Most of them are NOT hermaphrodites! Our friend and researcher Adnan Hossain was also misquoted in the article.
This article has therefore not met our high expectations for this first long and comprehensive article on the subject matter. But looking at the broader picture, we are still happy that it depicts a positive image of the Hijras and that it has been published in the most widespread Bangladesh English newspaper.
So thank you to all who participated in it.
